ROUND 1: SCHOOL / CLUB
CHALLENGE or TOURNAMENT CHALLENGE
In the Spring Term (or Autumn Term
if a school wishes), a 7 round
competition is played. This may be on one day (if a tournament) or more
likely with 1 round per week over 7 weeks. Players are paired on a Swiss
system basis in each round. At the end of the event, the highest scoring boy and girl from
each year group qualify for the final (which is held at the end of June each
year). In addition, any other pupil scoring 17 points or more out of

event, 3 points are awarded for a win, 2 for a draw and 1 for a defeat.
